Lantern festival Chiang Mai, Thailand

This annual festival is celebrated on the full moon in November. People release floating lanterns into the sky symbolizing letting go of all ills and misfortunes in the previous year.
Lanterns are released into the sky all over Chiang Mai during the evening with locals, visitors, monks, and young and old all taking part. It is great being part of the fun.
As part of the festival, there are also traditional dance shows, a parade, live music and handicraft sessions.
