Our culture of endless consumption is untenable. A climate emergency and shifting priorities are re-organizing our future. So, what comes next? Michael Harris' new book, 'All We Want', predicts a paradigm shift: to thrive in the 21st century we'll measure our lives not through shopping and endless growth, but through Craft, the Sublime, and Care. Harris reveals the origin of consumer culture – from the early ad men who learned to foment desire, to the politicians that promised endless material growth. He then reveals powerful alternatives to the consumer story. Called "this generation's McLuhan" (The Province), Harris offers us a profound book for this moment of societal reassessment.
