Controversy spawned in the presence the Queen's nine concerts in South Africa amidst an international boycott. Many bands refused to play in South Africa under apartheid, but Queen went along with their own plans and booked a whole sling of shows. Although these shows were of good intention and were to be played to mixed audiences, the band still received massive backlash from the industry and were even blacklisted by the United Nations for violating the boycott. This show is the 8th of the 9, and despite the negative notions surrounding these shows, the band still play their hearts out, giving one of their best shows, period. Freddie's voice is in very good shape, which is surprising when you hear about the stories from the earlier shows in Sun City. On top of a great vocal performance from Freddie (a rarity in 1984), the band play with passion that hasn't been seen since the Jazz Tour. Their chemistry as a band in the 80s is showcased nowhere better than at this show, and its presented here in pristine quality on a stereo soundboard. The first half of the soundboard was released in 2009, and it's impeccably clear with perfect mixes on all the instruments. The second half was released in 2015, and while the sound is still great, the transfer of the tape seems to have been a bit more ragged.
