'Frightening stuff': Victoria Belt and Road agreement details released

If you're doing deals with Chinese businesses then you're doing deals with the Chinese government, says Liberal Senator Alex Antic.

It comes amid revelations Victoria had agreed to help China land major state projects and promote Chinese firms in a deal that has only recently been made publicly available.

"This is an MOU that's surfaced out of nowhere through a parliamentary process as I understand it in Victoria," Mr Antic told Sky News host Paul Murray.

"It's basically a document between the government of Victoria and an entity or basically the government of China ... saying that the government in Victoria will facilitate tendering processes, will open doors for Chinese companies.

"Do all the sorts of things that really should be alarm bells ringing."
