Up Close with Young Orphan Elephants, Timisa & Khanyisa as the Mothers Eat Close By 💖

Little Timisa is very curious on this afternoon in the bush and comes up close to Adine and Tigere for a greeting. Khanyisa has to follow after her of course and tries to interrupt - to get her playmate to give her attention, no doubt, but Timisa has none of it. Timisa loves playing and being with Khanyisa but she’s not afraid to tell Khanyisa off with a head shake or nudge or even a gentle kick when she wants some space. It’s not too uncommon to watching human sisters interacting.

The allomothers and foster moms, Kumbura, Lundi and Tokwe are all close by and keep eagle eyes on the youngest two elephants.

We share some information into the skin of elephants, as Timisa gives us a close up view of her trunk and mouth hairs and skin crevices!

It’s lovely to see Kumbura interacting confidently with Lundi and Khanyisa as the elephants dig for bulbs and roots out in the bush.
