'Not a coincidence' Chinese threats were closely followed by a trade boycott

Adoni Media Managing Director Leisa Goddard says while “jobs will be on the line” and “the export market will be hit hard” as a result of the Chinese boycott of certain Australian products, the government should not “back down”.

The Australian is reporting “Beijing has accused Australia of launching an inquiry into the COVID-19 pandemic for political reasons, declaring that 'mutual respect and equality’ must form the basis of bilateral relations amid industry fears and escalating trade clash could damage the $153 billion export market to China”.

Ms Goddard said the comments across social media reveal “many Australians are outraged this is the response we are getting from China”.

She added it was not a “coincidence” these boycotting measures followed so closely after the Chinese ambassador threatened the Chinese might stop “eating Australian beef and drinking Australian wine” if our government continued to push for an independent, international inquiry into the origins of COVID-19.
