12th parliament sworn in, lawmakers eye Speakership

The outgoing Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the Loro-Pece Division MP, Norbert Mao, has compared the fight against corruption to the fight against malaria. Mao argued that mosquitoes cannot be befriended and then expected to eliminate malaria, drawing a parallel to the fight against corruption. The jab was directed at Parliament as he eyed the speakership position. He made the comment after taking the oaths of allegiance and that of a Member of Parliament.
