Quadrotor Biplane RC VTOL

This is a quadrotor biplane tailsitter VTOL platform, capable of hover and fast and efficient forward flight. This specific vehicle is being used to test transition mixes on my flight controller to be scaled up on much larger platforms.

Extensive testing and development on the quadrotor biplane platform has been carried out at the Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center at the University of Maryland. This type of vehicle configuration offers unique advantages: a small footprint, vertical flight capabilities, high payload capacity, and long endurance forward flight. Vehicles have been built from the sub-micro scale all the way up to 20lb class vehicles. Stability in hover is achieved similarly to a conventional quadrotor through RPM of the rotors. In forward flight, control can be maintained through rotor RPM inducing moments on the vehicle alone, though augmenting this with additional control surfaces provides additional redundancy.
