A sport called trap or trap shooting (Czech: shooting at a moving target) in the sports sector sport shooting is a special shooting competition where a shooter equipped with a double-barreled shotgun or. shotgun-goat hits the so-called pigeons with his shooting. In the past they were live pigeons, these are now replaced by colored discs with a diameter of 108 millimeters and a thickness of 12 millimeters, which a special throwing device on the shooting range pseudo-randomly throws at a speed of 30 meters per second (108 km / h) to a distance of 15 meters or more shooter left, right and straight. The clay or asphalt disc can be filled with colored dust (optical highlighter) for better optical identification of the impact. A valid target hit is considered to be such an hit when a visible fragment flies out of the target (pigeon) through the referee's eyes.

Trap competition was shot at 200 rounds in the past, today only 150 shots are fired. For the first 125 shots, each shooter has 2 shots per pigeon, the last 25 shots only one single shot. During the first 125 shots (5 x 25 shots), the shooters at 5 shooting positions alternate after 25 shots fired. Given that one shot costs at least CZK 10 (two rounds and one target), it is not a cheap sport.

The sister discipline is the so-called double trap, where the shooter shoots down two pigeons at once with two shots.

Special shooting ammunition TRAP 24 is used for shooting, which contains a maximum of 24 grams of shots.
