Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation, confirmed his presence in the United States for pre-planned meetings, signaling continued Russia-U.S. dialogue despite recent tensions. The visit comes days after Trump imposed sanctions on Russia's two largest oil companies, pressuring Moscow to end the Ukraine war.

Dmitriev told Reuters the American side didn't cancel despite "unfriendly steps," emphasizing dialogue will continue if Russia's interests are respected. He warned U.S. oil sanctions would backfire, raising gasoline prices at American stations. CNN reports Dmitriev is meeting Trump administration officials, with Axios specifying a Saturday meeting with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami. The meetings follow Trump's canceled Putin summit plans.
