Walking tour in 4K format with the sounds of the city - Tsarskoye Selo, Alexander Park, Russia
Emperors once walked in this park. Today we are walking. Are you with me?
Alexander Park is a park in the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Reserve. It is located on the territory of the city of Pushkin in St. Petersburg, an architectural monument of the 18th-19th centuries.
The area is about 200 hectares. It adjoins the Catherine Palace from the side of the main entrance, from where you can get to the park via the Great Chinese Bridge. On the other hand, you can enter the park through the gate located at the Alexander Palace.
Alexander Park is divided into the so-called New Garden (a regular park is a park with a geometrically correct layout) and a landscape garden.
During the reign of Elizabeth Petrovna, Tsarskoye Selo became the imperial residence. In the 1740s-1750s, the modest palace of Catherine I was rebuilt into a luxurious summer residence. Since 1744, according to the plan of the architect A.V. Kvasov, the old Petrovsky building was remade, built on and connected by galleries with two-story outbuildings on the sides. Soon this work was continued by the Russian architect S. I. Chevakinsky. A few years later, the new palace seemed insufficiently grand and it was decided to redo it again. From 1751 to 1756, the reconstruction of the Catherine Palace was carried out by the architect F. B. Rastrelli. The work was carried out all year round, the reconstruction required huge funds. Rastrelli raised the galleries to the level of buildings and decorated the facades with exceptional richness and splendor. In basic terms, the palace still has the appearance that Rastrelli gave it. In 1755, the Amber Cabinet was moved here from the third Winter Palace[2][7].
In the 1780s, in accordance with the predilection for fashionable Chinese motifs, an entire “Chinese village” was built according to the project of architects C. Cameron and V. Neyelov. 18 houses were supposed to appear here, making up a single ensemble in the Chinese style with a pagoda in the center. As a result, the Chinese Theater was built (it burned down in the autumn of 1941), bridges, the Big and Small whims in the Chinese style
