Research Training Group (RTG) 2550 reloc - “Dynamic Regulation of Cellular Protein Localization”

Biological systems are exposed to a multitude of intra- and extracellular signals and stressors. The resilience to these signals is crucial for their survival. The dynamic localization of proteins is a central mechanism to allow this high level of resilience through expansion of proteomic complexity and plasticity. Our DFG funded Research Training Group at the University of Cologne explores the mechanisms driving and controlling (re)localization events, and their functional and physiological consequences.

Our RTG brings the experts from biochemistry, chemistry and cell biology together that share a common interest in our research field creating a unique interdisciplinary research environment for our doctoral researchers. We support our doctoral researchers to develop into independent highly qualified researchers with a comprehensive cellular biochemistry background that have all the opportunities to follow their ideas for a future career in and outside of academia.
