NASA Will Attempt ‘Hot Fire’ Test Of SLS Moon Rocket For 8 Minutes

The new moon rocket SLS is currently under development. It has been in development for more than a decade. It is a modern equivalent of Saturn V. On March 18, 2021, the big rocket will attempt to not go anywhere. This test is called a hot fire. It is a crucial step for the rocket. Four engines of the booster stage will ignite but the rocket will be firmly held down on Earth.

This ‘hot fire’ test was first attempted in January. The rocket was supposed to run for eight minutes but the rocket’s computer shut down the engines after one minute. Once fully developed, the SLS rocket will be more powerful than SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy. SLS will be able to lift 70 metric tons as compared to 64 metric tons of Falcon Heavy.
