Can SpaceX’s Starlink Provide Internet in North Korea?

SpaceX plans to put 42,000 Starlink satellites into space. Starlink has potential to provide internet access outside the control of governments. North Koreans are prohibited from accessing the internet but one day Starlink might provide internet access to DPRK society. It’ll pierce a large hole in citizen control mechanisms of the state.

But is it feasible?

There is no local infrastructure needed to use Starlink internet. You just need to plug in the Starlink Terminal (modem) and point it to sky but North Koreans would need to acquire Starlink Terminal. That would be extremely difficult in a country like North Korea. Secondly it would be impossible for North Koreans to Pay for the subscriptions. There are no international online payment options available. An outside support network will definitely be needed for North Koreans to get connected.
