Rookie Ovi Bullies The Thrashers (12/22/2005)

December 22, 2005 - No teams suffered the wrath of young Ovechkin quite like the Atlanta Thrashers. A couple weeks after his first 4-point game, Ovi lit up the scoresheet against the Thrashers with another 1-goal, 3-assist outing. His highlight of the game was not his goal but easily his 3rd assist where he sent the defender Niclas Havelid to the ground before setting up Zubrus for an easy (and somewhat flukey) goal. The Capitals in this era weren't much to speak of outside of Ovi, so despite the lead the Thrashers were able to come back and tie it, but in the shootout, Ovechkin delivered again with what would stand as the winning goal.
