ABC Network - Saturday Morning Cartoons - "Some Commercial Breaks & Schoolhouse Rock" (7/12/1980)

Here's a transition from one Saturday morning cartoon to another as aired on the ABC Network - but, as here, over their Dallas-Fort Worth, TX affiliate WFAA Channel 8; discovered as an EOTF (end-of-tape find).

[Note: earlier we had made a similar find - ABC Network - Saturday Morning Cartoons - Ending of The Super Friends & Opening of Fangface (1979) which you can see here: https://youtu.be/ON4oww1uq-w]

All "We'll return after these messages" voiceovers by Bill Owen.

Includes:

Recording coming in as the "Time for Timer" segment, "Sunshine on a Stick" had already started

SuperFriends (full title: The World's Greatest SuperFriends) ending [some of it had to be removed] credits (with voiceover promo for Kids Are People Too, Animals, Animals, Animals, Plastic Man, Scooby and Scrappy-Doo, and Laff-A-Lympics by Ed Jordan) and animated "swirling star" Hanna-Barbera bumper

Schoolhouse Rock - "Telegraph Line" (about the central nervous system - sung by Jamie Aff as the messenger boy, and Christine Langner as the girl) (first aired as a Science Rock segment on June 30th 1979)

Commercial: Kool-Aid (At "Skate Land" skating park, tending to some hot and thirsty young skaters)

Schoolhouse Rock ending titles

ABC ID slide (voiceover by Ed Jordan)

Local promo for WFAA's Peppermint Place show (hosted by Jerry Haynes as Mr. Peppermint; ran in this form from 1975 to 1996)

Station ID / PSA for Dallas Metro Crime Council Robbery Information Reward Line

Opening for The Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show (the opening notes sounding like the 1969-71 Hanna-Barbera closing bumper music) and preview of coming episode

Commercial: Burger King (The King plays tennis with The Duke)

Little bit of the Plastic Man cartoon, since we couldn't post the whole thing; edited down for comedic (?) effect ("Ghostfinger" (originally part of December 1st 1979 episode "Ghostfinger"/"Dog Gone Days"/"The Count Draculon Caper"/"The Film Fiasco of Director Disastro"/"Highbrow"/"The Evil Evo-Ray")

This aired on local Dallas-Fort Worth TV on Saturday, July 12th 1980 during the 7:54am to 8:03am timeframe.

About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:

The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!
