Ten Metre Walks: Ep 14 - Abruzzo Italy Special Pt. 1, Apennine Valley
DISCLAIMER: This episode was recorded in September 2020 whilst filming for Mattia Cialoni's film 'My Neighbour is a Bear'. Thanks to Mattia and the crew for facilitating a lot of the filming you see in this vlog. His film will be out quite soon, in the meantime you can view the trailer here: https://youtu.be/HEvNI4y4Bik
Consequently, this vlog actually 'happened' a few episodes back, so bear that in mind when watching the final product!

In this special two part edition I travel to central Italy whilst assisting on a project with photographer and filmmaker Mattia Cialoni, also alongside Paul Collins and Luca Verducci. Here there is a family of bears which frequents the local village, Villalago.
In this episode I experience an unexpectedly cold river, we inspect some wolf poop, and I try to experience Paul's bizarre evening routine of finding ice cream, kittens, and scorpions.
00:00 - Intro
00:37 - Update
02:05 - Orientation
05:11 - Villalago
07:28 - Villetta Barrea
11:35 - Boars
13:07 - 10 metre walk orientation and BTS
16:30 - 10 metre walk film
20:23 - Bonus section

Welcome to Ten Metre Walks, where I select 10m of anything anywhere and try to make it look swish on film!
The concept was born after I figured it would be a good exercise to try and make a video with restricted parameters. I thought it'd make a decent vlog topic where I could chat about the successes and failures of this process, and learn a bit about filming and nature along the way.
Parameters:
10m stretch of environment
1 hour
One camera, 3 lenses (now 4!), tripod.
Hopefully through these videos you see a progression in my filmmaking, storytelling, and ability to adapt to these conditions. Remember it is an exercise so the outcome is more often than not pretty rubbish - but we're all here to have a laugh and learn a thing or two.
Filmed on Panasonic Lumix GH5
Edited in FCPX
Filmed in Abruzzo, Italy
