Dry itchy skin, the Causes and the Treatment varies according to the age of the patient. In young patients it is more likely to be due to the seasonal change, or of there is a family history of asthma or wheeze in the family they will have dry itchy skin. In adults or in old age if they develop Dry itchy skin all of a sudden if not due to a seasonal change then there should be proper evaluation. It can be due to some internal problems like thyroid or any liver function disorders or kidney problem or an internal mimicker of internal cancer. In general for Dry itchy skin, it is better to apply a moisturizer before bath, preferably half an hour tone hour before bath, followed by moisture rich soap, take short, quick lukewarm water bath. Immediately after bath apply moisturizer. So applying moisturizer 2 to 3 times a day will help to get rid of this Dry itchy condition. You should take fresh fruits and vegetables and good sleep and 8 to 10 glasses will be helpful to maintain the hydration of the skin
