I Just Need To Vent...

Emo rantypants time: god bless that future day when I get to choose who I call family, & be done with everyone else. Apologies for using the word 'broken' re: Aspies, but let's face it, that's how most parents with a newly diagnosed kid feel, as their friends' kids follow the developmental curve perfectly, while their kid won't even smile at them - I didn't smile for a really long time as a baby, apparently, & basically never smiled as a teenager, to the point of a girl at high school asking my friend whether there was something physically wrong with my facial muscles, that I was unable to express any emotion, lmao, but nope, my mother's reaction was 'It's no wonder you've got no friends when you walk round looking so miserable all the time - NO ONE likes a MISERYGUTS!' - I'm pretty damn sure 'my kid is broken' is precisely what they're thinking, & the *superfun* part about an adult diagnosis is that you will have living memories of the process of your parents fumbling from high hopes to brutal realism, whereas if it happens when you're little, you probably don't remember how upset, disappointed, frustrated etc they were - by the time living memory kicks in, they just accept your realistic capabilities...

Anyway, less depressing shiz next week, lol, I promise - even pumpkin faeries get *grumpy* sometimes! :P
