Sangli Village Officer Killed After Car Rams Parked Truck on Highway

A senior government official lost his life in a horrific road accident after his speeding car reportedly lost control and crashed into a stationary container truck on the Ratnagiri-Nagpur National Highway near Miraj in Maharashtra.

The deceased was identified as Mahesh Manohar Bhamane, a Gramsevak (village servant) from Kosari in Sangli district’s Jat area.

According to preliminary information, Mahesh Bhamane was travelling from Jat towards Miraj when the accident occurred near Kalambi village on the highway.

CCTV footage of the incident, which has now gone viral on social media, reportedly shows the car suddenly moving across lanes at high speed before crashing into a parked container truck on the roadside.

Police said the impact of the collision was extremely severe, completely crushing the front portion of the vehicle. Mahesh Bhamane sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

The accident reportedly took place after the car crossed multiple lanes of the highway before slamming into the stationary container.

Soon after receiving information, Miraj Rural Police and emergency teams rushed to the spot. The body was later taken for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether overspeeding or negligence led to the fatal crash.
