3 Hawks Go Free
3 Hawks were released by Three Rivers Avian Center at Bluestone Lake in Summers County WV on 9/20/19. All 3 were sub-adults, 2 Red-tails and a Red-shoulder. The 1st hawk was a red tailed hawk that had not been good at finding food and was starving and parasitized when it was rescued. The 2nd hawk was a red shouldered hawk who had a shattered left humerus that was surgically pinned by Dr Sarah Stephenson of Good Shepherd Animal Hospital in Charleston WV. He healed up beautifully! The 3rd was a red tailed hawk who mixed it up with a skunk and found out why you don't do that!! The spray from a skunk is a neurotoxin, which debilitated the young hawk and left him weak and dazed on the ground. He still is a little smelly, but otherwise all is well with him! May the rest of their lives be healthy and long!!
