Chest Freezer Work Surface: Construction

Adding a work surface to the DC chest freezer to make it into a functional area.

A0 - 36" x 48" cutting mat:

Cut down to fit 41" x 27" freezer lid.

PVC angle, 1-1/2" x 3/4" x 1/8":

Enough angle to fit the perimeter of the cutting mat.

Glue the angle to the underside of the mat, notch the corners so they sit flat. The sides and back have the long side of the angle facing up. The front has the short side of angle facing down. If needed, make a notch to fit around the lid handle.

This top weighs in at 8 lbs. or 3.6 kg. It's easy to remove and lean up against a wall if needed, although I leave it on all the time.
