Sciatic Nerve Release - Motion Specific Release

In this video Dr. Abelson demonstrates some of the Motion Specific Release (MSR) procedures we use to release the Sciatic Nerve. Symptoms of sciatica can be caused by disc herniation, foraminal stenosis, spinal stenosis, or entrapment of the sciatic nerve. Fortunately, most cases of Sciatica do NOT require Surgery, as long as no red flags are present.

There is good research to support the use of both joint mobilization/manipulation for pain reduction, decreased hypertonicity, increased range of motion, and overall improved function. There is also considerable research to support the use of myofascial release techniques for restoring the integrity of the Fascial Tensional Network. Of course, exercise is a critical component of resolving any type of musculoskeletal condition.
