The high voice of Thrace (The wide plain, Kyranno) – Thracian Greek Collection
This mixed dance song is performed as "psili foni" (high voice), a special technique of singing among the women of the Erythropotamos area. This is in contrast with the "chamili foni" (thick voice) which the majority of the women use. According to our interviewees, the high voice is a better kind of singing because it is even more beautiful than the bagpipe. This melody is an Easter dance and was performed in the central square of Asvestades village.
