It's the Tube; Television Trade Colour Film.

During the 1970's these amazing colour films provided a break in between the test card and the television trade information. It provided a chance to view some of the best freely available colour films then available. This mixed range of footage was often 'sponsored' as an indirect form of advertising, but these informative, usually beautifully shot colour movie features were indeed classics in their own right.

'It's the Tube' refers to the 'Cathode Ray Tube' as used to produce a colour television picture. It's all to do with phosphor dots and primary colours, The three primary colours (red, Green and Blue) used in the colour mixing required individual circuits for each colour. The Tube itself required about 20,000 plus volts to work. This film Presented by 'Mullard', was used in trade test transmissions displaying the benefit of the new colour receivers.

A Mullard Colour Screen production.
Mullard were manufacturers of Valves and Television Cathode Ray Tubes.
