Part One of a two part documentary about Eric Fenby, his life and career before and after his six years of dedication to Frederick Delius.

'No man hath greater love than to give six years of one's youthful life to a dying and blind composer enabling the completion of his life's work''.
That is just what a modest young musician from Scarborough did.
Songs of Farewell including 'I stand on some mighty eagle's beak', depicting the heather-clad, protruding headlands along the stunning North Yorkshire coast, was only made possible with the unstinting help of Mr. Eric Fenby.

Here's the story behind the 'Unsung Hero of Music' from Scarborough.
How through his early musical experiences as chorister and organist then listening to the orchestra at Scarborough Spa, he forged a career in music and was subsequently able to dedicate himself to Delius from 1928 onward for six years.

In the second part, how the stress of the Delius years affected Fenby, the help he received from friends in and around Scarborough. After re-establishing himself locally, his work as a composer, music teacher and musical director, through the war years and subsequent time with the Royal Academy of Music and so much more ....
