Albanese government set to hike tax on foreign property investors

Foreign property investors will be slugged with higher taxes in the latest initiative to boost housing supply and repair the budget.

Application fees by foreign buyers will be tripled, with even higher costs if that property is left vacant.

This tax will deliver an additional $100 million to the Federal budget every year.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers says he wants properties to be on the rental market if they aren’t being used.
