How to Pistol Squat: Lesson One | School Of Calisthenics

One of the main reasons why people find it hard to learn to pistol squat is because they lack ankle range of movement. Being able to move the knee far enough over the toes whilst the foot is on the floor (dorsiflexion) means you create a positive shin angle. As you then drop into the pistol squat the shin can keep moving forwards allowing the hips to move downwards and weight is distributed evenly over the base of support.
