Which Subsonic .300 BLK Is Quietest? House of Pain vs Magtech vs Stealth — Sealed Bolt + CAT JL
Which subsonic .300 AAC Blackout is the quietest? In this video I dissect and compare three subsonic .300 Blackout loads on a sealed system — live testing on a bolt-action .300 BLK with a 10.5” barrel to find which round gives the lowest sound signature when paired with my favorite can, the CAT JL suppressor. Ammo tested: House of Pain, Magtech, and Stealth. I show raw audio/visual footage, chronograph / POI notes, and practical notes about accuracy, terminal consistency, and how these rounds behave in a short-barrel bolt host.
What you’ll see
• Why a sealed system + bolt action matters for quiet testing
• Test setup: rifle, barrel length (10.5”), CAT JL suppressor, measurement approach
• Live-fire demonstrations with each ammo type — unedited sound capture and close-mic footage
• Chronograph and point-of-impact (POI) observations for suppressed vs unsuppressed shots
• Practical discussion: subsonic vs stuck-in-barrel risk, sealing, and reliability notes for each brand
• Final comparison: loudness ranking, which ammo is the quietest, and my recommendation for suppressed bolt hosts
• Safety & legality notes and how I recorded the tests
Gear & ammo used (put exact models/links in pinned comment)
• Bolt-action .300 AAC Blackout, 10.5” barrel (host shown on camera)
• Suppressor: CAT JL suppressor (on camera)
• Ammunition tested: House of Pain (subsonic), Magtech (subsonic), Stealth (subsonic)
• Chronograph, close-mic and ambient microphones, tripod, hearing/measurement gear
Testing methodology (short)
• Sealed system bolt host to minimize gas leakage variables
• Same barrel and suppressor for all rounds, consistent distance and microphone placement
• Multiple shots per load, chronograph readings, and POI recorded to compare accuracy & consistency
Safety & legality
Always follow all local, state, and federal laws regarding suppressors, ammunition, and firearm operation. This video is for demonstration and informational purposes only.
