The Mummy With A Passport... #scary

Very few of us like our passport photo, but spare a thought for Ramesses II who had his passport photo taken nearly 3000 years after his death. Ramesses II whose body was discovered in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1881 was showing signs of a fungoid growth that needed specialist treatment in Paris to prevent total decay.

French laws dictated that entry of any person dead or alive required a passport and to comply the Egyptian government issued a passport to the long dead Pharaoh. The Mummy was flown into Le Bourget Airport and was greeted by the Secretary of State for Universities, and an army detachment. It’s unknown whether he had to go through passport control!
