Hi friends of fingerstyle guitar music,

this is my arrangement of the jazz standard "Satin Doll", one of Duke Ellington´s big hits, written in 1956 by Ellington/Strayhorn/Mercer.

When I was 19 years old, I heard Jobim´s "Girl from Ipanema" - what was the reason for me to take lessons in Jazz guitar. And the very first song I learned there, was satin Doll. And since I had started learning playing guitar with classical/spanish music at the age of 7 years, I tried how I could play "Satin Doll" the same way - playing the melody, harmony and bass at the same time. My guitar teacher was not amused - but that was my first arrangement I did. For decades I played this arrangement unchanged, but finally worked out a variation for this video.
So here is my version of it - and I hope you like it...

greetings from Germany
Gerhard
