In this episode of RANT&H, Christian and Anna get into what you should do once you decide that you want a Rolex in 4 steps.

Step 1: Do Your Research. If you're getting ready to spend several thousand dollars on a watch, it's helpful to not only understand the models the brand has on offer, but at least some basic history of the brand itself to help perhaps explain why their pricing is the way it is and how certain models developed over time.

Step 2: Choose a Model. Once you know that you want a Rolex, you'll need to decide which model you're interested in. For example, if you're someone that wears a suit every day, or generally lean towards the more formal side of things, then you may want to consider something like a Datejust or a Day-Date, and if you're generally a sportier individual, perhaps you're going to be more interested in something like a Submariner or a GMT Master II.

Step 3: Pre-Owned, Vintage, or New? This is the point where pricing and your budget really do come into play more than anything else. If you're going to go with a new model, the most common way to go is through a Rolex Authorized Dealer (AD), which will give you a chance to try piece on in person, but will definitely come with a premium price. If you want to go Pre-Owned, it gives you a chance to negotiate the price a bit since the premium is gone, and you're going to have to find a dealer that you trust. Then, if the piece you want is significantly older, then Vintage is the way to go no doubt. Many of the vintage sports Rolex models (like the GMT or the Submariner) have the potential to be more expensive than their modern counterparts, but there is still tremendous value to be had.

Step 4: Pull the Trigger. You've figured out what you want, you know how you're going to get it, and now all that's left to do is pull the trigger and get that new to you Rolex on your wrist.
