So, Rolex and Tudor. Juggernauts in their space. To say Rolex dominates the market is an understatement. Rolex OWNS the market. Yes there are many other amazing brands (hi Omega, Grand Seiko, JLC...etc) but no one even holds a candle to Rolex's fame. SO when we go down a few price rungs we have a new king...Tudor. Would Tudor have gotten there on their own? Is the Rolex name behind them that big of a draw? Let us know!

Today, Christian and Michael dive into some of the hottest horological topics this side of Geneva!

First and foremost, we have the notion that you only like Tudor because of Rolex. Wait wait wait...don't shoot me, I'm just the guy writing the description. In all seriousness, though, it's a wild and interesting idea when you think about it. It's basically horological nepotism, the idea that Rolex's brand name and cache carries so much of Tudor despite the quality of the watches and, in many cases, the sheer value of them. Is Tudor's collection perfect? Of course not, but regardless of that, the brand does work incredibly hard and put in the time on design and execution. But so does a company like Oris, who is not nearly as hyped up as Tudor. It makes you scratch your head and wonder just why that is if not for the Rolex connection.

Next up, we have the Patek 5711's (second) victory lap. In an interview with HODINKEE, Thierry Stern was quoted as saying that the green dial steel 5711 wasn't the end of the model line, and that there was "maybe" a bigger bomb coming, but that we'd remember the "maybe" (whatever that means exactly). What do we expect? Probably, the first yellow gold 5711 with, in our estimation, likely a blue dial or a gold dial.

Speaking of green dial watches, though, we have the new TAG Heuer Carrera with a green dial that is, frankly, a beautiful watch. What else is there to say about it really? In other news, though, Audemars Piguet released a watch in collaboration with Marvel to celebrate Black Panther and it's...wild. First of all, that tourbillon is really poorly placed given the way T'Chala is standing. That aside, it's just a kind of overblown kids watch in a lot of ways.
