James Taylor - Before This World - The Making Of - Part 1

“There We Were: The Recording of James Taylor’s 'Before This World'“ is the documentary companion to James Taylor’s 2015 album, “Before This World.” James’s 18th studio album was his first album of new songs in 15 years and reached #1 on the Billboard charts plus a grammy nomination for “Best Pop Vocal Album.” The documentary features behind-the-scenes footage from various recording locations including James‘s home studio, TheBarn. Also included are interviews with James (who explains his own song-writing process), James’s wife, Kim, who talks about James’s creative process plus interviews with longtime members of his band. Sting and cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, who performed on the album also make guest appearances.

At his home studio, TheBarn, in Western Massachusetts, James takes the viewer through his creative songwriting process, and welcomes his Music Producer, Dave O'Donnell and members of his band -- Jimmy Johnson, Steve Gadd, Michael Landau and Larry Goldings -- to lay down the first musical tracks to his first new songs in 15 years.
