James Taylor - Before This World - The Making Of - Part 3

“There We Were: The Recording of James Taylor’s 'Before This World' is the documentary companion to James Taylor’s 2015 album, “Before This World.” James’s 18th studio album was his first album of new songs in 15 years and reached #1 on the Billboard charts plus a grammy nomination for “Best Pop Vocal Album.” The documentary features behind-the-scenes footage from various recording locations including James‘s home studio, TheBarn. Also included are interviews with James (who explains his own song-writing process), James’s wife, Kim, who talks about James’s creative process plus interviews with longtime members of his band. @Sting and cellist, @Yo-Yo Ma, who performed on the album also make guest appearances.

James takes the viewer on the road with the band since much of "Before This World" was recorded while on tour around the U.S. Interviews with Kim Taylor (giving further insight into James's songwriting/creative process) and with longtime members of his band. Recording footage from James's home studio, TheBarn includes a young Henry Taylor recording "Angels of Fenway" with Dad as well as with cellist, Yo-Yo Ma who appears on several songs including the love song to Kim, "You and I Again."
