Palestinians condemn Israel’s push for annexation amid ceasefire

Palestinians have strongly condemned Israel’s push to annex the West Bank, after Israel’s parliament passed a preliminary vote on Wednesday to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied territory.

The US has also criticised the move, with President Donald Trump saying he would not support formal annexation, and Vice President JD Vance dismissing the bill as a “political stunt.”

However, Palestinian analyst Khaldon Al Barghothi argues that Washington is not truly opposed to the plan, saying “it just does not think it's the right time for the move”
The vote came amid a fragile ceasefire that took effect two weeks ago, a truce Israel has violated several times since.
