Gaza Tribunal President slams peace deal as 'threat diplomacy'

The Gaza Tribunal has started in Istanbul, with leading academics calling for Israel to be held accountable for the genocide in Gaza.

International law expert and Tribunal President Richard Falk described the peace deal ushered in by US President Donald Trump as "threat diplomacy", highlighting how Hamas had 72 hours to accept the proposed agreement.

The Tribunal, which was formed a year ago as a people's tribunal in response to the failures of sovereign states and international institutions to address and halt Gaza's genocide. The initiative was inspired by an earlier civil society effort during the Vietnam War. The Tribunal is in it's final session, from 23-26 October 2025 at Istanbul University.
