Hind Rajab Foundation names soldiers behind child’s death and urges ICC to prosecute Israeli troops

MEE's Mathilda Mallinson interviewed Jake Romm from the Hind Rajab Foundation, who said that the organisation had identified three Israeli commanders and 22 soldiers involved in the killing of six-year-old Hind Rajab. The soldiers, who belonged to the “Vampire Empire” Company of the 52nd Armoured Battalion, were identified using a combination of forensic evidence, verified satellite imagery, weapons analysis, and open-source data, including material posted online by Israeli soldiers themselves.

Romm said the foundation has submitted its findings to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is urging prosecutors to issue arrest warrants for those responsible. He told MEE that naming individual perpetrators is essential to breaking the “wall of impunity” surrounding war crimes in Gaza.

Hind Rajab’s killing in January 2024 drew international outrage after audio of her desperate final phone call to Palestinian paramedics went viral. Trapped inside a car surrounded by the bodies of six of her relatives, Hind pleaded for help before communication was lost. Israeli forces later struck the ambulance sent to rescue her, killing two medics.
