“Faith Journeys with God in the Land” Part 13

The area of the Central Benjamin Plateau (CBP) is located slightly north of Jerusalem. In this area are biblical cities such as Gibeah and Mikmash. The area of the CBP served as a strategic location for controlling routes that headed north, west, and east in particular. A famous battle took place near Mikmash involving Jonathan, Saul’s son), and an outpost of Philistines we advanced from the Coastal Plain in order to control this region.

The bravery of Jonathan and his sword bearer played an important role in the military conflict here. Climbing up steep cliffs in the wadi (dry river bed) near Mikmash proved to be the right strategy that brought victory to the Israelites that day. The key for Jonathan’s success was to totally depend on God for the outcome. We are invited to do the same in our difficult circumstances of life. From time to time, we too face “steep cliffs” or situations that cause us to totally depend upon God. Our journey of faith with God requires stepping out in faith, even climbing with confidence, just as Jonathan did in this story. Be encouraged, as you “climb over” those difficult pathways of life with faith, God goes before you!

Once again, Dr. John uses excerpts from his book (Connecting the Dots with the Bible and the Land of Israel) in this episode. You can purchase a copy on the store page of the BIMT web site. Also, because of the limitations of being able to record on location, this episode was recorded at the BIMT office, with various photos of the surrounding area of Mikmash added as a backdrop throughout the video teaching.
