ACTU’s latest push is ‘divorced from reality’
Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Executive Andrew McKellar believes the ACTU’s latest push could be “adding to inflation” and would keep interest rates “higher for longer”.
The ACTU called for a 9 per cent pay rise for low-income earners in feminised industries.
Mr McKellar told Sky News Australia the ACTU’s claim is "completely divorced from reality”.
“It would not be responsible in any form.
The ACCI Chief Executive stated the ACTU strategy shouldn’t be “across the board” but instead on a “case-by-case basis”.
“We saw inflation is stalled at 2.6 per cent; that needs to get back down to the Reserve Bank’s target range.”
