Chruchill's German Army: National Geographic TV

German born Jews who enlisted to fight against Hitler tell their extraordinary stories, including Geoffrey Perry who shot and arrested Lord Haw Haw. At 17, Geoffrey was the youngest press photographer on Fleet Street but went on to join the British Intelligence Corps and became the first voice heard on German radio when the Nazi regime collapsed in 1945. Sir Ken Adam is arguably cinema's greatest production designer – a knighthood, two Oscars and a string of Baftas testifying to his talent. The version of the Sixties we see on celluloid is, to a large extent, the product of his imagination. He gave us the Bond villain lair and the shadowy backdrops to the Harry Palmer films, The Ipcress File and Funeral in Berlin. He designed the war room in Kubrick's Dr Stragelove. He was the only German RAF fighter pilot during WW2, flying Typhoons on low level raids in the aftermath of the Normandy landings, serving with top scoring 609 Squadron based at Yeadon airfield near Bradford, West Yorkshire.
