Yurun Zhang
Yurun Zhang is training in the lab of Dr. John Chute. Her research focuses on reducing the side effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In this video, Zhang explains that healthy blood stem cells are depleted by chemotherapy and radiation and she describes how she’s studying the possibility of using new drugs that may help blood stem cells regenerate faster after these treatments. She hopes that the drugs can one day be used to accelerate patient recovery after cancer treatment.
