The role of transcription factors in the development of healthy germ cells | Grace Hancock

Important cellular decisions are made during human embryonic development to determine cellular fate. Primordial germ cells, which eventually develop into a human’s reproductive cells (eggs or sperm), make these decisions at just two and a half weeks after fertilization. As a part of Amander Clark’s lab, Grace Hancock uses gene editing technology to study primordial germ cell development in a dish. She aims to understand the potential role of transcription factors in the development of healthy germ cells, and uncover how abnormal germ cell development can lead to infertility.
