$47 Grocery Week for 2 ($23.50 per person) | Dollar Meal Ideas
$46.85 for a week’s groceries for 2 people ($23.42 per person.) That’s less than most Americans spend on food, but it’s not that hard to eat well for that amount as long as you shop at a discount store like Winco. This was quite similar to my food budget and what I ate in college. A lot of meal prep.
These portions are for an 1800 calorie diet.

*I noticed later from my receipt that I was charged for sweet onions instead of yellow onions. Sweet onions are twice as expensive as yellow onions, so I was overcharged by about $1 :(

Shopping list: 1 loaf orroweat bread (18 slices), 1 pound butter, 20 chicken thighs, 4 cups rice, 2 pounds frozen peas, 2 gallons milk, 2 28 oz cans tomatoes, 2 onions, 1 head garlic, 1 tbs italian seasoning, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 3 tbs salt, 1 tbs pepper, ½ cup sugar, 3 pounds spaghetti, 3 cans juice concentrate, 7 apples, 1.5 pounds beef for stew, 2 tsp thyme, 2 potatoes, 2 carrots, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/3 cup dried raisins, 3 tbs flour, 1/2 cup pop corn kernals, 1 box twinings tea
Leftover food at the end of the week: 3 tbs butter, ¼ cup popcorn, ¾ cup rendered chicken fat
*Price and calorie calculations are per person. We both ate the same thing (unless otherwise noted) except Joshua had juice and I had tea.
DAY 1-5
B: 1 piece toast with 1/2 tbs butter, 2 cups milk with 1/2 tsp sugar (as milk tea) (*Joshua just had plain milk)

D: 2 chicken thighs with 1/3 pot rice and 1/2 cup peas with 1 tbs butter
Snack: a half apple
DAY 6
