Gardening Club Censored on Facebook for Using the Term ‘Hoe’
Members of a gardening club were shocked to find that their group’s Facebook page had been censored by the social media company for its use of the word “hoe.” Facebook had flagged the word, which is of course a common gardening implement, mistaking it for a derogatory term that sounds the same but is spelled differently. Gardening is the #1 outdoor leisure activity of all households in the U.S., and 63 million Americans call themselves gardeners.
