This event was jointly organised by the IIEA and Maynooth University and chaired by Mr Justice Liam McKechnie, Supreme Court Judge. This event was part of a series marking the 10th anniversary of the Maynooth University Department of Law
About the Speaker:
Eleanor Sharpston has served as Advocate General at the Court of Justice since 11 January 2006. After studying economics, languages and law at King’s College, Cambridge, she pursued an illustrious career in academia, teaching and researching at Oxford, UCL and Cambridge and in legal practice, as legal secretary to Sir Gordon Slynn at the Court of Justice and at the bar of England and Wales, latterly as a Queen’s Counsel. She is an Emeritus Fellow at King’s College, Cambridge, an Honorary Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford (2010) and has received honorary doctorates from Glasgow (2010), Nottingham Trent (2011), Stockholm (2014) and Edinburgh (2017).
