May 2022 NWMA Meeting | Sailing voyages in Latin America & current building project w/ Steve Ladd

Stephen Ladd presented at the Northwest Multihull Association's May 2022 meeting. Steve’s remarkable small-boat voyages are chronicled in his books Three Years in a 12-Foot Boat and The Five Year Voyage: Exploring Latin American Coasts and Rivers. The three-year voyage took him to South America and down the Orinoco River in Squeak, a 12-foot home-built cold-molded cat yawl. The five-year voyage was made in a much-modified Sea Pearl, a 21-foot cat ketch. That time he and wife Ginny went all the way to Argentina, exploring the Amazon, Paraguay, Uruguay, and other major rivers.

Steve has a wealth of experience pushing small boats to the limit of their capability, so when he decides that his next boat will be a proa (now half complete) it is worth finding out why.
