This act tasked the SBA to provide emergency loans to US small businesses impacted by the nationwide pandemic shutdown. Originally this was also to include a $10,000 grant to all businesses that applied, payable within three days of applying.

However, that is not exactly how it played out, not far into the rollout, the SBA decided to unilaterally change the rules in what turned out to be one heck of a cluster [donkey].

Fellow YouTuber Aubrey Janik is reporting on her channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvcHrY3rwbc) – that EIDLs are being approved, and at least the grant part has been funded quickly for new applicants.

Part of me is completely understanding and compassionate to the SBA staff that have been completely overwhelmed with tens of millions of applications for EIDL, but . . . there is also part of me that has zero compassion for the system; the bureaucracy that, when faced with a daunting task, rather than put an entrepreneurial mindset of tackling the problem head-on, they used the government red tape mindset to make the problem far worse.

See, entrepreneurs, we are a special breed; it doesn’t matter your gender or race; if you are an entrepreneur, you have a unique way of looking at the world. When you see a problem people are experiencing, you step back and analyze it. Very quickly, an entrepreneur can offer a plan of action to tackle the situation and provide a market solution that addresses the problem.

A government, on the other hand, tends to love red tape, rules, procedures, and policies. It does not matter Republican or Democratic-run administration; government, over time, always expands in scope.

On June 10, which was about 72 days after I applied for the EIDL, I received an email for the ‘first business’ that I was still awaiting my loan on. This email said, in part:

EIDL Advance Status Update - We are reaching out in regard to your request for an EIDL advance as part of application number xxx. We were unable to successfully verify and validate all of your information in order to process your advance. We would like to invite you to update your advance request with corrected information. Your EIDL loan application is still being processed separately. As a reminder, you do not have to be approved for a loan in order to receive the advance.

He applied during the main open enrollment period before the SBA limited the applications only to agriculture-based businesses; which, incidentally, appears to be a direct violation of the CARES Act, and this is another unilateral decision by the SBA the Senate sub-committee chewed the SBA Administrator out over. Anyways, back to the email.

With my assistance, he filed an appeal with the SBA both via email and certified return receipt US mail. This way, he could track the date and prove they received his appeal.
