In 2014, a garage owner in Edinburgh spotted a Google Street View car and had about 30 seconds to act. He and his employee staged a fake murder on the cobblestones — one lying flat, the other standing over him with a shovel. Google's car captured the whole sequence across multiple frames, and it stayed live on Google Maps for months. Anyone in the world could find it.

The garage owner was Dan Thompson of Thompson's Garage in Edinburgh. One of his regular customers happened to be a police officer who already knew about the stunt, which is why the "investigation" was short-lived.
