DIY ROOF: HOW TO FAKE A TRADITIONAL ROOF

With the rafters, felt and batten on, all thats left are the tiles. This is a bit more complicated than just throwing a bunch on.. we had to source some traditional reclaimed hand-made tiles from a local farmer which would be on the top layer, and which would disguise the bottom machine-made lugged tiles. Traditionally they would just lay a load of tiles on top of each other and hope for the best - obviously we wanted a bit more confidence so we used metal hooks that lock each tiles together and prevent any slipping down the roof. As well as this, we cemented the bottom rows in to help prevent twisting.
